San Isidro

San Isidro

San Isidro is a small rural village, with a train station. The station is called Albatera-Catral but is actually in San Isidro. The traditional looking and characterful station was demolished during 2011 to make way for the high speed track Alta Velocidad Española (AVE). This new line will connect Alicante, Elche and Murcia to Valencia and Madrid. During the upgrade work a portacabin is being used as the station office, alternatively there is a self service ticket machine.

You can catch the train from here to Crevillent, Elche and Alicante in the north or to Callosa de Segura, Orihuela, Beniel and Murcia in the south. The train stations in both Alicante and Elche are situated right in the heart of each city, however the station in Orihuela is 7 minutes walk from the centre and in Murcia it is a good 15 minute flat walk away from the centre or a quick cab ride.
