Rio Segura Walking and Cycling Path
As your My Travel Guide we have put together this guide with all of the points along the Rio Segura Walking and Cycling Route. If you are fit, you can cycle all the way from Guardamar del Segura to Orihuela and back again, about 60 kilometers! Alternatively you might like to do the route in smaller sections, using the villages as starting and stopping points. For the more sedate option just walk!!

Algorfa Rio Segura Walking Cycling Route
N38°05.505 W0°47.711Parking: is on the road beside any of the traditional 1 storey houses. To enter the path walk back the few yards to the entrance of the road and on your left hand side you will see the path. As you turn the corner turn right for Formentera, Rojales and Guardamar Marina, turn left for Benejuzar and Orihuela.
From here: walk or cycle along beside the river. This route can be done as one long journey from Guardamar to Orihuela or you can use the villages as starting/stopping points.

Benejuzar Rio Segura Walking Cycling Route
N38°04.959 W0°50.308Parking: is in the slip road on either side of the road beside the shops and apartments next to the entrance to the village. You will find the path starts on both sides of the bridge next to the roundabout. To go to Algorfa, Formentera, Rojales and Guardamar Marina you need to join the path to your right before crossing the bridge. For Orihuela town centre cross the bridge and the road to pick up the path on your left heading towards the mountain.

Formentera Rio Segura Walking Cycling Route
N38°05.005 W0°44.805Parking: is in the road and is free. To access the path go straight on towards the mountain, cross the bridge over the river and then turn right towards the mountain for Algorfa, Benejuzar and Orihuela and left for Rojales and Guardamar Marina.
From here: walk or cycle along beside the river. This route can be done as one long journey from Guardamar to Orihuela or you can use the villages as starting/stopping points.

Guardamar del Segura Rio Segura Walking Cycling Route
N38°06.505 W0°38.661Parking: is in the Marina and costs 1€ for however long you want to stay, insert coin on entrance and scan ticket on exit. Or to miss out the 2 kilometres of pavement join the path at the towns entrance by the roundabout with the waterfall fountain on it that you pass to get to the marina. To find the path walk or cycle under the bridge keeping the river on your right.
From here: walk or cycle along the banks of the Rio Segura (pavement for first 2 kilometres then it changes to hard ground). The path goes past Rojales, Formentera, Algorfa and Benejuzar and finishes 30 kilometres away in Orihuela. This route can be done as one long journey from Guardamar to Orihuela or you can use the villages as starting/stopping points.

Orihuela Rio Segura Walking Cycling Route
N38°05.261 W0°57.284Parking: is in the car park of the Ociopia shopping mall and is free.
From here: walk or cycle along the banks of the Rio Segura. To go towards the coast and Guardamar cycle through Orihuela town. The path goes past Benejuzar, Algorfa, Formentera, Rojales and finishes 30 kilometres away at the marina in Guardamar. This route can be done as one long journey from Orihuela to Guardamar or you can use the villages as starting/stopping points. To go inland towards the city of Murcia cycle in the other direction away from Orihuela.
Top tip: go with friends and two cars, leave one car in the village where you want to finish and one at the start!! Or cycle to the city of Murcia and take the train back to Orihuela!!
Rojales Rio Segura Walking and Cycling Route
N38°05.184 W0°43.804Parking: is on the road next to the apartment and is free.
From here: walk or cycle along beside the river, turn left to Formentera, Benejuzar and Orihuela or right and follow the river through Rojales, past the market site towards Guardamar Marina. This route can be done as one long journey from Guardamar to Orihuela or you can use the villages as starting/stopping points.
