La Tercia United Golf Course
La Tercia United Golf is a challenging 9 hole course which is more suited to the accurate player rather than the long hitter. Situated near the village of Balsicas, just off the main 3319, the course is built in the middle of a large open space which has residential properties surrounding the fairways. A nice large clubhouse awaits at the finish which offers lovely views back down the course.
Ideas for the Non Golfer
- A short journey from the La Tercia is the train station of Balsicas. From here you can catch the train to Cartagena and enjoy a drink at its marina or visit any of the city’s museums such as the impressively restored Roman Amphitheatre.
- Head down to the shores of the Mar Menor and the town of Los Alcazares. Enjoy its very, very long promenade, relax on the beach or take a dip in the sea.
- Shoppers will love the Shopping Mall of the Dos Mares on the edge of Lo Pagan. Here you can browse the small boutique shops and perhaps try a spot of bowling!

Balsicas Train Station

Cartagena: walk out of the sub train station towards the 'lighthouse clocktower' that is above the main train station, then cross the road to the tourist office and collect a map
Top tip: this train line is used by various regional operators, but you can find the timetable using the Renfe website. Click on the word welcome to change the site to English. In the drop down menu on the Departure select Murcia and then in the drop down menu for Destination select Cartagena, select the date, then click search. To find the time that the train stops at Balsicas click on the train that you want in the Train/Route column and the time table will pop up.

Los Alcazares Promenade

From here: walk down onto the promenade.
Top tip: you will find the Hotel Balneario La Encarnacion along the promenade, it is worth stopping here and going through the bar to the characterful courtyard. This hotel was built in 1904 and was used in the filming of ‘The Garden of Eden’ when it was cosmetically transformed into the 1920's French riviera hotel Des Voyageurs.
