La Serena Golf Course
La Serena is an 18 hole course set in beautiful surroundings on the shores of the Mar Menor in Los Alcazares. The course was built around the 500year old Tower, locally know as the Torre de Rame which used to keep watch for invading pirates. The course is very challenging with many water hazards and large sand bunkers for you to navigate around. The wind off the Mar Menor can also come into play, the views are great and the fresh air will leave you tired as you enjoy a well-deserved drink in the superb clubhouse overlooking the course and Mar Menor.

Enjoy a long stroll along the promenade in the beautiful town of Los Alcazares, it goes for many kilometres.

Take a visit to the Dos Mares Shopping Mall in Lo Pagan for a spot of shopping, a go at bowling or just for lunch.

Have a short drive to Santiago de la Ribera and take the B and F Ferry across to the other side of the Mar Menor. The boat journey takes about 40 minutes in each direction; you can either stay on the boat or enjoy lunch at one of the restaurants at the marina before heading back.

Lo Pagan Dos Mares Shopping Mall

Los Alcazares Promenade

From here: walk down onto the promenade.
Top tip: you will find the Hotel Balneario La Encarnacion along the promenade, it is worth stopping here and going through the bar to the characterful courtyard. This hotel was built in 1904 and was used in the filming of ‘The Garden of Eden’ when it was cosmetically transformed into the 1920's French riviera hotel Des Voyageurs.
Santiago de la Ribera Boat Trip

From here: walk along the promenade to the Escuela Piragüismo (Kayaking school) large white building on the shores of the Mar Menor, opposite the Hotel Ribera. The wooden pier behind the kayaking school is where the B&F Ferry departs.
Top tip: (info correct for 2010) A single ticket costs 4€ and a return is 8€ per person, it is free for all under fours! You can put a bicycle on the ferry for an additional 1€ each way. The ferry departs Santiago every 2 hours starting at 11.30 and finishing at 21.30. It departs La Manga every 2 hours starting at 10.30 and finishing at 20.30. In the summer (March-November) it goes every day of the week, but during the winter it does not operate on a Sunday. In the height of summer the operating hours are extended for another 4 hours at the end of the day, making the last ferry depart Santiago at 01.00!
