Hospitals
The Costa Blanca South has two main hospitals. One in Torrevieja and the other on the outskirts of Orihuela which is also known as the Vega Baja or San Bartolome Hospital. Both operate a 24 hour accident and emergency department, and accept your E111 Eurpoean Health Insurance Card and medical insurance documents.
In addition to these two hospitals, there are many small local health centres which are known as Centro de Salud. These operate a 24 hour accident and emergency clinic for small issues and accept your European Health Card and medical insurance documents. If the Centro de Salud staff feel that they can not solve your issue, they will transfer you to the nearest hospital.
