Half Day Out Scenic Drive Pedrera Reservoir

A Half Day Out Scenic Drive Pedrera Reservoir

The scenic drive around the reservoir twinned with a stop for a coffee at the start, a walk around the village of Torremendo and a meal at the hamlet of Rebate or the Castle in San Miguel makes for a great morning or afternoon out.

The man made reservoir known as the Embalse de la Pedrera is always a delight to drive around. It offers a constantly changing vista depending on the weather conditions, time of day and how full of water it is. You can pack a picnic and find a place to sit and admire the views over the reservoir, which has been dammed to provide a constant source of water for the area. Although there are no official cycling paths, if you are feeling fit you can easily cycle all the way around on the road!

Torremendo is a small village situated close to the shores of the Embalse de la Pedrera reservoir. It consists of only a few streets centred around the traditional church square. The neighbouring hamlet of Rebate is even smaller and has a tiny chapel within the grounds of the Rebate restaurant. The Castle of Condesa stands at the very end of the route, it has been refurbished to look like a Moorish castle and has a restaurant and childrens play area.
