Denia
Denia enjoys a privilege position right on the northern edge of the province of Alicante. It sits on the shores of the Mediterranean opposite the Balearic Islands and is backed by the impressive mountains of the the Montgo Natural park. Denia hosts many fiestas, but it is best know for the running of the bulls fiesta which takes place during July and has been declared as being of National Tourist Interest.
Denia is a fantastic place to visit, where you'll easily be able to enjoy a day or two! There is the ruined castle which proudly guards the town and has stunning views out over the marina, the natural park of Montgo and the Torre del Gerro both of which have marked walking trails to enjoy. The prestigious marina with its wonderful elevated promenade, a 20 kilometre coastline of both rocky and sandy beaches, the fish market, the old town and the impressive tree lined main shopping street as well as the museums. If that isn't enough you can take the tram south to Calpe, Altea, Benidorm or the city of Alicante, alternatively take the ferry to the Ibiza or Palma for an overnight stay!

- There is so much to do in Denia that you could easily spend a day or two here! Visit the market on a Monday morning, buy some fresh local produce for a picnic and then drive to the Montgo Natural Park for a walk along any of the marked trails
- Spend the morning exploring the historic castle right in the heart of Denia, then make the short drive to the huge La Marina shopping mall with its many, many shops, bowling alley and eateries.
- Start the day with a coffee at the marina, after take the tram to any of the other coastal towns like Calpe, Altea or Benidorm.

Top tip: there are lots of roads that lead down to the beach, all of which are signed 'Platja' so you can stop wherever you want.
Denia Beach South End Playa de la Marineta Cassiana

Denia Car Park 1

Denia Castle

From here: follow the signs to the Centre Historic and the Castillo.
Top tip: the castle is open everyday except the 25th December and the 1st January. Times vary depending on the month, but are roughly 10.00-13.00 & 15.00-18.00 during the winter and 10.00-13.30 & 17.00-19.30 in the summer. Tickets are 3€ for adults and 1€ for children.
Denia Ferry Port

Denia Fish Auction

From here: walk along the pier to the fish market known as the La Lonja.
Top tip: you can watch the fish auction from the gallery inside the hall, it is held Monday-Friday 17.00.
Denia Marina

From here: walk to the marina along the road or along the elevated marina wall.
Denia Market Medium Monday Morning

Denia Montgo Natural Park

From here: enter the park beside the information board and follow any of the marked trails.
Top tip: the approach to the park is via a residential zone, there is also a lovely little chapel with a garden containing the stations of the cross near the entrance to the park at N38o49.145 E0o06.445.
Denia Pay Car Park 2

From here: the tourist office is opposite the car park.

Denia Running of the Bulls Pub

From here: the pub which is completely dedicated to everything to do with bullfighting and the running of the bulls is right beside you.
Denia Torre del Gerro Viewpoint

From here: access the steep path up to the tower by walking up the road called Via Lactea and then follow the markers.
Denia Tram Station
