A Day Out Guadarmar del Segura

A Day Out Guardamar del Segura Costa Blanca South Spain

Guardamar del Segura is best known for its many kilometres of fine sandy beaches, sand dunes and parks. The unique Alfonso park was created at the beginning of the 20th century by the local people to stop the town becoming buried by sand. If this amazing bit of engineering, designed by Francisco Mira had not been carried out, Guardamar would look very different today!

It has a busy high street full of all kinds of shops as well as a popular market on a Wednesday morning to keep even the most dedicated shoppers happy. You can explore the Alfonso Park and picnic under it's pine trees. The Reina Sofia Park is a great place for the children with its floodlit play area and the nearby children's funfair and night market (both summer only) make for a good evening out. The marina is about 1.5 kilometres out of town, to the north, but is an excellent parking option during the busy summer months. The walk into town from the marina is beautiful, as it is either along the beach or here is through the Alfonso Park.
