Sax Moors & Christians
The first major Moors and Christian Fiesta of the year starts in Sax on the weekend of the 1st to the 5th February. The fiesta is in honour of San Blas whoes saint day is the 3rd February. Click on Read More for the programme of the parades.
The programme for the Moors and Christians Fiesta of San Blas in Sax is:
Wednesday 1st February
- 11:00 Entrance of the Moors and Christians short parade from the Colegio Hermanas Carmelitas to the Plaza del Ayuntamineto
- 11:30 Opening ceremony in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento
- 17:00 Parade of the Fiesta Queens followed by the Moors and Christians route: Puente Picayo, Fuente del Cura, Callejon Banos, Esquina Iglesia, Plaza Cervantes finishing Esquina Progreso
- 21:30 Parade from the Plaza del Ayuntamiento to the Ermita San Blas then the Saludo al Santo
Thursday 2nd February
- 08:30 Meeting of the bands in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento
- 09:45 Procession de Candelas route: Plaza del Ayuntamiento, Canalejas, M. Serrano, P. Gisbert, Alicante, Gran Via, Punte Rico, JR Jimenez, Yecla, Carrera, Ramon y Cajal, Caja Rural, Castelar, M Chapi, Igelsia
- 17:30 Procession Bajada del Santo route: Plaza del Ayuntamiento, Canalejas, M. Serrano, P. Gisbert, Alicante, Gran Via, Punte Rico, JR Jimenez, Yecla, Carrera, Ramon y Cajal, Caja Rural, Castelar, M Chapi, Igelsia
Friday 3rd February
- 12:30 Procession of San Blas, the Moors area is the Puerta del Ayuntamiento to Calle Mayor and the Christians occupy the Plaza del Hoyo to the Calle Artal de Alagon
- 18:30 Procession and Entrance of the Christian Ambassadors route: Pascual Carrion, Castillo, Ayuntamiento
Saturday 4th February
- 09:30 Procession Rise of the Saint route: Iglesia, Callejon Banos, Fuente del Cura, San Antonio, Cruz, Chauli, Peligro, Ermita finishing at 12:30
- 18:30 Procession and Entrance of the Moor Ambassasdor route: Pascual Carrion, Castillo, Ayuntamiento
Sunday 5th February
- 18:30 Final Procession route: Pascual Carrion, Ayuntamiento
- 21:10 Firework display to close the festivities
