There are many places to visit in Gran Alacant Spain

Gran Alacant sits high on the cliffs overlooking the clear blue waters of the Mediterranean. It is in a fantastic location just minutes south of the vibrant and fashionable city of Alicante and north of the traditional resort of Santa Pola.

  • Gran Alacant Beach

    Parking: is on the side of the road and is free

    From here: walk along the wooden walk ways over the sand dunes onto the beach.

  • Gran Alacant Beach Car Park

    Parking: is in the car park area and is free.

    From here: walk out of the car park area and turn left for the wooden walk ways that lead onto the beach.

    Top tip: the car park gets very busy during high season, so come early or take the tourist train from the centro comercial. 

  • Gran Alacant Commercial Centre Front Entrance

    Top tip: this is one of the stops for the tourist train, it is schedualled to leave here at 25 mins past the hour, tickets cost 2€ for one circuit .

    From here: walk along the road to the turning circle and then follow the path to the lighthouse.

    Top tip: parking is limited here, so you can park at the Centro Comercial and take the tourist train (charges apply). To park right beside the lighthouse take the turning on the N332 between Gran Alacant and Santa Pola which is marked with the sign post that says El Faro Santa Pola . 

  • Gran Alacant Market Small Thursday Morning

    Parking: is on the side of the road and is free, it get busy here on market days so you might have to park further away and walk.

    From here: the market is on the opposite side of the road.

  • Gran Alacant Parque Sierra Santa Pola

    Parking: is on the side of the road and is free.

    From here: the park which contains a childrens playground, adult fitness equimpment and a kiosk, is opposite here. 

  • Gran Alacant Promenade Arenal

    Parking: is on the side of the road and is free

    From here: walk along the promenade into Arenales del Sol where there are lots of shops, cafes and restauarants, or down onto the beach. 

  • Gran Alacant Tourist Train

    Parking: is in the car park and is free

    From here: this is one of the the 11 stops for the tourist train. It opperates during most of the year and is schedualled to leave here at 25 mins past the hour, tickets cost 2€ for one circuit. For more information about the route and timetable take a look at the official website.

  • Gran Alacant Viewpoint

    Parking: is on the side of the road and is free.

    From here: walk along the road to the turning circle and then follow any of the paths to the lighthouse. There are benches at both viewpoints eitherside of the lighthouse, but the best views of the Island of Tabarca are to be found at the viewpoint just past the lighthouse.

    Top tip: parking is limited here, so you can park at the Centro Comercial and take the tourist train (charges apply). 

  • Gran Alacant Village Centre

    Parking: is in the car park and is free.

    From here: the small parade of shops and resturants is opposite, the library, townhall and childrens playground are beside the car park. 

  • Santa Pola Scenic Drive Northern Point

    From here: this is the coordinate for the northern point in Gran Alacant of the coastal road which runs beside the sea underneath the cliffs from Santa Pola. 

    Top tip: it gets very busy especially during high season, so is sometimes best avoided in the summer.

  • Santa Pola Scenic Drive Southern Point

    From here: this is the coordinate for the southern point in Santa Pola of the coastal road which runs beside the sea underneath the cliffs from Gran Alacant.  

    Top tip: it gets very busy especially during high season, so is sometimes best avoided in the summer.

L'Alfas del Pi and Albir

L'Alfas del Pi and Albir are lovely places to visit in the Costa Blanca Norh

L'Alfas del Pi is a town of two halves. The original fortified village was located some 4 kilometres inland to ward off attacks from the pirates that used to plague the coastline. This has developed into a popular town which hosts an international film festival every July and a Jazz festival every October.

    Parking: in the gravelled car park or in the spaces on the side of the road and is free.

    From here: walk down to the sandy beach and promenade or follow the road uphill for shops and restaurants. 

  • L'Alfas del Pi and Albir Lighthouse Car Park

    Parking: is in gravelled car park and is free.

    From here: follow the old road and the signs along the cliff to the lighthouse.

    Top tip: it is about a 5 kilometre walk, so make sure you are properly prepared.

  • Javea Beach Central Platja de L'Arenal

    Parking: is in the car park or anywhere there is a space on either side of the road in the marked parking places and is free.

    From here: the sandy beach, long promenade and a great selection of cafes, bars and restaurants.

    Top tip: there is a small market here during the summer evenings.  

  • Javea Beach North End Platja de Benissero

    Parking: is on the actual shingle beach wherever there is space and is free.

    From here: the beach is in front of you, enjoy! 

  • Javea Beach South End Cala Blanca

    Parking: is in the small car park which is a dead end, or in any of the spaces on either side of the road before the car park and is free.

    From here: the rocky beach is beside the car park, there is also a lovely small promenade along the cliff face. 

  • Javea Marina

    Parking: is on the side of the road or in the smal car park area beside the marina and is free.

    From here: the marina and fishing port are right here, walk along the walls, take a look at the boats and relax in the cafes. 

  • Javea Market Large Thursday Morning

    Parking: is in the underground pay car at the Plaza de la Constitucion.

    From here: the market is held above the car park on the Plaza de la Constitucion and the surrounding streets.  

  • Javea Old Town

    Parking: is in the underground pay car at the Plaza de la Constitucion.

    From here: exit the car park and cross the road, turn left and walk along Calle Buen Aire into the historic quarter for the tourist office, town hall, museum, 14th century church and quaint narrow streets. 

  • Javea Viewpoint Cap de la Nau

    From here: explore the headland and its viewpoints, lighthouse, marked walking paths and restaurants.

Cabo de Palos

The shoreline is one of many places to visit in Cabo de Palos Murcia Spain

Cabo de Palos is the most southerly place on the Mar Menor. It is a large village with a quaint marina which has moorings for about 100 small boats, and some excellent restaurants which are renowned for serving a great selection of fresh fish. The rocky coastline is excellent to explore, and a walk out to the light house is a must! There is also a sandy beach, which joins into the beaches of the La Manga Strip to enjoy.

    Parking: is on the road near the marina and is free, it gets very busy here during high season so you might have to park further away and walk.

    From here: walk away from the mouth of the marina and along any of the short streets on your right, you’ll find the beach in front of you.

  • Cabo de Palos Lighthouse

    Parking: is on the road near the marina and is free, it gets busy during high season, so try any of the side streets.

    From here: walk around the marina, past the restaurants and out onto the headland to walk to the lighthouse.

  • Cabo de Palos Marina

    Parking: is on the street beside the marina, if you can’t find a space try any of the side streets.

    From here: walk around to the restaurants which are found along the seafront at the mouth of the marina.

  • Cabo de Palos Market Large Sunday Morning

    Parking: is on the road near the marina and is free, it gets very busy here on market days so you might have to park further away and walk.

    From here: follow the shopping trolleys to the market which is beside the marina.

  • Cabo de Palos Rocky Coastline

    From here: walk around the marina, past the restaurants and out onto the headland.
