    From here: face the sea and turn left to walk north to Dehesa de Campoamor, or turn right to walk south to Torre de la Horadada, when you get to the Rio Seco either walk along the beach or head inland a few hundred meters to the bridge.

Gran Alacant

There are many places to visit in Gran Alacant Spain

Gran Alacant sits high on the cliffs overlooking the clear blue waters of the Mediterranean. It is in a fantastic location just minutes south of the vibrant and fashionable city of Alicante and north of the traditional resort of Santa Pola.

    From here: walk along the promenade into Arenales del Sol where there are lots of shops, cafes and restauarants, or down onto the beach. 

  • Gran Alacant Tourist Train

    From here: this is one of the the 11 stops for the tourist train. It opperates during most of the year and is schedualled to leave here at 25 mins past the hour, tickets cost 2€ for one circuit. For more information about the route and timetable take a look at the official website.

  • Gran Alacant Viewpoint

    Parking: is on the side of the road and is free.

    From here: walk along the road to the turning circle and then follow any of the paths to the lighthouse. There are benches at both viewpoints eitherside of the lighthouse, but the best views of the Island of Tabarca are to be found at the viewpoint just past the lighthouse.

    Top tip: parking is limited here, so you can park at the Centro Comercial and take the tourist train (charges apply). 

  • Gran Alacant Village Centre

    From here: the small parade of shops and resturants is opposite, the library, townhall and childrens playground are beside the car park. 

  • Santa Pola Scenic Drive Northern Point

    From here: this is the coordinate for the northern point in Gran Alacant of the coastal road which runs beside the sea underneath the cliffs from Santa Pola. 

    Top tip: it gets very busy especially during high season, so is sometimes best avoided in the summer.

  • Santa Pola Scenic Drive Southern Point

    From here: this is the coordinate for the southern point in Santa Pola of the coastal road which runs beside the sea underneath the cliffs from Gran Alacant.  

    Top tip: it gets very busy especially during high season, so is sometimes best avoided in the summer.

La Manga Strip

The coastline is one of many places to visit along the La Manga Strip Spain

The La Manga Strip is a piece of land that separates the Mediterranean Sea from the Mar Menor. La Manga is Spanish for sleeve and aptly describes this 21 kilometre long, 300 metre wide spit. It is a great place to visit at any time of the year; during the summer when it is very busy or during the winter when it is very quiet, with most establishments being closed.

  • Beaches

    From here: there is a beach on either side of the Strip.

    Top tip: there are over 15 beaches along the length of the Strip, so stop anywhere you see a sign for ‘playa’, the sea is a lot warmer on the Mar Menor side than the Mediterranean side of the Strip. 

  • Boat Trip

    Parking: is in the marina and is free.

    From here: at the roundabout just after the entrance arches turn right and park as close to the clubhouse at the end as you can, walk past the clubhouse and to the small jetty to catch the ferry.

    Top tip: the B&F Ferry to Santiago de la Ribera departs from the little jetty. During the summer it runs seven days a week from morning until midnight, but has a restricted service out of season. There is normally a notice board with the current timetable beside the jetty. The trip will take about 40 minutes and costs 4€ each way, under 7 years are free, it is an extra 1€ for a bicycle. 

  • High Street

    From here: this is the start of the Strip, so there are shops and eateries on both sides, take your pick!

  • Marina Tomas Maestre

    Top tip: there are two 'parades' of places to eat and drink. When at the roundabout just after the entrance arches turn right for modern parade of eateries with views of the marina, or turn left for a more ramshackle parade of restaurants with views to the Mar Menor. 

  • Promenades

Villajoyosa / Vila Joiosa

The valor chocolate factory is one of many places to visit in Villajoyosa Spain

Villajoyosa as it is known in Spanish or La Vila Joiosa as it is called by the local people in Valencian literally means the 'joyful village'. It is famous as a centre for the production of chocolate, which could be the reason for its name! The town has three chocolate factories, all of which can be visited. The Valor Chocolate factory is perhaps the most famous, but there is also the Perez Factory and the Clavileno Factory, so you'll be spoilt for choice!

  • Villajoyosa Valor Chocolate Factory

    Parking: is on the side of the road wherever there is space.

    From here: the chocolate factory is right beside you enter for your tour of the museum.

    Top tip: tours are free and run every half hour Monday-Friday 10.00-13.00 & 16.00-19.00 and on a Saturday 10.00-13.00. If you want to be sure of a specific time then call in advance and reserve your place +34 966 810 451. For more information take a look at the official Valor website.

    The other chocolate factories are Clavileno and Perez.

Moraira

The castle and beach are one of many places to visit in Moraira Spain

The tranquil town of Moraira remains the most unspoilt coastal town of the Marina Alta area. Moraira was, up until the 1970's just a tiny cluster of fishermen’s cottages, since then it has emerged as an exclusive holiday resort. It is so popular that its permanent population of around 9,500 swells to over 30,000 during the busy summer season.

    From here: walk down onto the sandy beach which has a short promenade and a selection of cafes and restaurants to choose from.

    Top tip: the car park quickly becomes flooded when it is raining! 

  • Moraira Beach South End Platja de Platgetes

    Parking: is in the car park or in any of the designated spaces along the main road and is free.

    From here: the beach is in beside the car park, it is part sandy and part rocky and there are some restaurants and small shops behind.


     

  • Moraira Car Park

    Parking: is in the large car park and is free, there are other car parking spaces in the roads around here which are marked with blue lines and are pay and display spaces.

    From here: walk towards the sea and turn left for the rebuilt castle, restaurants, marina and shopping streets, turn right for the sandy beach and shaded promenade with seating area.

    Top tip: the car park is closed on Fridays as it is the site of the market.  

  • Moraira Market Large Friday Morning

    From here: the market is held on the car park, so follow the shopping trolleys! 

  • Moraira Scenic Drive to Calpe

    From here: follow the road along the CV746, stopping where you want at any of the viewpoints or beaches.

L'Alfas del Pi and Albir

L'Alfas del Pi and Albir are lovely places to visit in the Costa Blanca Norh

L'Alfas del Pi is a town of two halves. The original fortified village was located some 4 kilometres inland to ward off attacks from the pirates that used to plague the coastline. This has developed into a popular town which hosts an international film festival every July and a Jazz festival every October.

Denia

The marina is one of many places to visit in Denia Spain

Denia enjoys a privilege position right on the northern edge of the province of Alicante. It sits on the shores of the Mediterranean opposite the Balearic Islands and is backed by the impressive mountains of the the Montgo Natural park. Denia hosts many fiestas, but it is best know for the running of the bulls fiesta which takes place during July and has been declared as being of National Tourist Interest.

  • Denia Castle

    Parking: this is the coordinate for the castle, parking is either in car park 1 or pay car park 2.

    From here: follow the signs to the Centre Historic and the Castillo.

    Top tip: the castle is open everyday except the 25th December and the 1st January. Times vary depending on the month, but are roughly 10.00-13.00 & 15.00-18.00 during the winter and 10.00-13.30 & 17.00-19.30 in the summer. Tickets are 3€ for adults and 1€ for children.


     

  • Denia Ferry Port

    From here: the ticket office is inside the ferry terminal or buy your ticket in advance from the travel agencies or online.

    From here: walk along the pier to the fish market known as the La Lonja.

    Top tip: you can watch the fish auction from the gallery inside the hall, it is held Monday-Friday 17.00.

  • Denia Pay Car Park 2

    Parking: is in the pay car park beside the tourist office, make sure you display your ticket in your car.

    From here: the tourist office is opposite the car park.

    Top tip: this is a pay and display car park with a maximum stay duration of 127 minutes.


     

  • Denia Running of the Bulls Pub

    Parking: his is the coordinate for the pub, parking is either in car park 1 or pay car park 2.

    From here: the pub which is completely dedicated to everything to do with bullfighting and the running of the bulls is right beside you. 

  • Denia Torre del Gerro Viewpoint

    Parking: small car park at dead end, alternatively park near the restaurant and walk the 150 meters to the viewpoint.

    From here: access the steep path up to the tower by walking up the road called Via Lactea and then follow the markers. 

  • Denia Tram Station

    Parking: is anywhere you can find a space in the streets around the tram station and is free. Do not park in the pay and display car park opposite the station as it has a maximum stay duration of 127 minutes.

Calpe / Calp

The rock d'ifach is one of many places to visit in Calpe Calp Spain

Calpe, also know spelt without the 'e' as Calp, is instantly recognised by the mighty Penon de Ifach, the huge rock which rises 332 meters out of the Mediterranean sea. This has stood guard over the town and witnessed its transformation from sleepy little fishing village into tourist magnet.

    From here: the entrance to the natural park is right beside the car park, enter and follow the marked walking trail around the park, through the tunnel in the rock and onto the seaward side of the Penon de Ifach for some amazing views!

    From here: follow the road along the CV746, stopping where you want at any of the viewpoints or beaches.

  • Calpe Town Centre

    Parking: is in the underground car park Sol y Mar and is charged for by length of stay, there are lots of other small pay car parks, so you can park in any of these.

    From here: explore the town centre or walk down onto the south end beach.

Benissa
