Tour of Spain finishes on Campoamor Beach

Vuelta de Espana 21st August 2011 Dehesa de Campoamor finishing point

This coming Sunday, the 21st August, the second stage of the 2011 cycle race Vuelta de Espana will finish at around 17:00 on the beach at Campoamor. The cyclists will approach along the N332 from Torrevieja and then turn off to the beach finishing close to the Health Centre. This will be the second year running that the organisers of the 'Tour of Spain' have selected the municipality of Orihuela as the finishing point Last year the centre of the city was the destination, but this year it is the turn of the coastal zone.

The town hall has been busy preparing the area. It has been resurfacing roads, carrying out a 'clean-up' operation and organising the emergency services to cope with the crowds that are expected. Provision has been made for the 100 or so journalists and television personal who will cover the event.

For up to date information about the race, route and competitors take a look at the official La Vuelta website. Read more information about what to see and do in Dehesa de Campoamor in our Travel Guide and watch our programme which features the walk along the beautiful Orihuela Costa Coastal Path.
